In the Mountains

Traversing through a steep stark mount,
A white blanket of snowflakes, too many to count.

Snow crunching underfoot,
Footprints our trails, too evident to overlook.

Slippery slopes, fellows stumbling,
Falling on their faces, getting up grumbling.

Smiles and jokes surround new friends,
Laughter causes their bodies to bend.

Radiant light shining below,
The frigid air just won’t let go.

Nearly to the top, snow knee deep,
Not too far now, no room for defeat.

At the summit, the view so astounding,
Thank you Lord, your glory abounding.
